Our story
Born from a bad commute and a dream of better coffee
We opened That Little Sun of a Beach because we were tired of paying £6 for something that tasted like regret. There had to be a better way.
How it all started
It started with a holiday in Lisbon, a tiny café tucked down a cobbled alley, and a flat white so good it made us question every life decision we'd made up to that point.
We came home to Sunnybrook, looked at the options on our high street, and thought: we can do better than this. So we did. We found a little corner spot, painted it teal, hung some plants, and opened the doors.
That was three years ago. We're still here, still obsessed with good coffee, and still convinced that your morning cup should be the best part of your day — not just the most caffeinated.
What we're about
Obsessively good coffee
We source single-origin beans from small farms, roast to order, and dial in every shot like it personally offends us if it's not right.
Sustainably minded
Compostable cups, locally sourced food, and a genuine effort to not trash the planet. We're not perfect, but we're trying.
Neighbourhood first
We're not a chain. We're your local. We know your order, we remember your dog's name, and we genuinely care that you have a good day.
No pretension, ever
Coffee should be joyful, not intimidating. Ask us anything. We'll never make you feel silly for ordering a latte.
The people behind the counter
Priya Sharma
Founder & Head Barista
Former graphic designer turned coffee obsessive. Priya spent two years training in Melbourne before coming home to open the shop. She still personally trains every barista.
Marcus Webb
Head of Food
Marcus bakes everything from scratch every morning, starting at 5am. He claims he doesn't mind. We're not sure we believe him, but the croissants are worth it.
Jess Okafor
Senior Barista
Jess has been with us since day one and knows every regular by name. She also makes the best latte art in the building, and she knows it.
